Understand your visa position
If you think your permission to stay in Nepal may have expired, or the dates in your passport and visa records do not match, seek guidance from the Department of Immigration promptly. The Department lists Tourist Visa Extension as an immigration service and its online portal provides a visa-extension application route. The Department’s citizen charter lists a late fine for tourist-visa cases. That published charge does not establish an amount or procedure for another visa category or for an individual situation; confirm what applies with the competent authority.
An overstay matter can depend on the visa category, the dates recorded by immigration, and the information available to the authority. A private review cannot establish your official immigration status or determine what action will be accepted. Do not assume that making a payment, submitting an application, or arranging travel will resolve every issue or determine whether departure can proceed. The Department and other competent authorities retain their decision-making and enforcement powers.
What our private assistance includes
Immigration Services Nepal is an independent assistance and consulting service. We can help you put the facts in order, review copies of the documents you provide for consistency, and prepare questions or a factual summary for an enquiry to the appropriate office. Where useful, we can help organize the information needed for an official application or coordinate communication about the procedure. We can also explain the publicly available process in plain language, based on the information available at the time of review.
Our role is administrative and procedural. We are not a government office, do not issue visas, and cannot change immigration records, approve an application, waive a fee or penalty, prevent enforcement, or guarantee departure, future entry, or a particular decision. We do not provide legal representation. If your matter involves a formal investigation, detention, a removal or entry restriction issue, or another legal proceeding, contact the competent authority and consider seeking advice from a qualified Nepal lawyer.
Prepare for an initial review
Share only records relevant to understanding your timeline. Helpful starting points may include the passport used to enter Nepal, the visa or visa record associated with that passport, and available evidence of entry or departure dates. If you applied for an extension or contacted an office, include the application receipt, reference number, or correspondence if available. If an unexpected event affected your plans, keep any records that help explain the dates. These are suggested materials for our review, not a universal official document list or a guarantee that an authority will accept them.
Please do not alter, annotate, or discard original records. If a passport was renewed or replaced, tell us which document was used for entry and which one you currently hold. If any date or record is uncertain, flag it rather than guessing. We can help identify gaps and prepare a clear set of questions, but only an authorized office can confirm which documents it requires for your specific matter. Requirements may differ by visa category and circumstances.
Why early contact matters
The official process and applicable charges can change, and an unresolved visa record may affect what you need to do next. Contact the Department of Immigration directly as soon as you identify a possible overstay, especially before relying on a planned departure or a new application. Ask the office which channel and documents apply to your case, whether you need to attend in person, and what steps are currently available. If departure is planned soon, verify the position with the authority before making travel assumptions. Our team can help you prepare that enquiry and keep a record of the response; we cannot control how quickly an office responds or what it decides.
How we handle your case
We begin by listening to your account and reviewing the available records. We explain the scope of our assistance and identify information that appears missing or inconsistent. If you ask us to help coordinate an enquiry, we can prepare a factual summary and organize your questions for the Department. You remain responsible for checking the details, approving any material submitted in your name, and following instructions from the authority.
Any assessment of status, fees, eligibility, regularization, departure, or future immigration action belongs to the relevant government authority and may depend on facts or rules that are not yet known. We will not present an estimate as an official decision. For current contact details and official instructions, use the Department of Immigration website and NepaliPort service portal.
Start with a confidential review
When you contact Immigration Services Nepal, describe your visa type if known, the expiry date shown on your records, and whether you have already contacted the Department. Do not send passport numbers or full identity documents in an initial message unless we explain a secure way to provide them. We can first confirm whether the requested administrative assistance fits our service and tell you what information would help us understand the matter.

Frequently asked questions
Can you confirm whether I have officially overstayed?
We can review the dates and records you provide for consistency, but we cannot access or certify government immigration records. Ask the Department of Immigration to confirm your official position.
Can you calculate or waive my overstay fee?
We do not set or waive official fees. The Department publishes fee information, including a late or overstay fee, but the authority must confirm what applies to your circumstances. This assistance page does not provide a definitive individual calculation.
Will paying a fee mean I can leave Nepal or return later?
We cannot promise that. Payment, departure, and any future visa or entry decision are matters for the competent authorities. Confirm your individual position directly before relying on a travel plan.
Which documents do I need to provide?
For our initial review, available passport, visa, travel-date, and immigration correspondence records may help explain the timeline. This is not an official checklist. Ask the Department which documents it requires for your visa type and circumstances.
Should I wait until my departure date to contact immigration?
If you suspect your visa has expired, contact the Department promptly rather than assuming the issue can be handled at departure. The authority can advise on the current procedure and your circumstances; we cannot predict its response or decision.
