Department of Industry (DoI) Business Visa Recommendation Assistance is for foreign investors, their authorized representatives, and eligible dependents preparing a recommendation request in Nepal. The DoI reviews the recommendation request; a recommendation is not a visa. The Department of Immigration makes the separate visa decision. Immigration Nepal is an independent advisory service and is not a government office.
What the DoI recommendation covers
The DoI’s published visa guidance describes Business Visa recommendations for foreign investors, authorized representatives, and dependents. It says the recommendation period is assessed using factors such as investment level, financial performance, employment generation, income tax paid, and investment area. These factors do not establish a guaranteed recommendation period or eligibility for a particular applicant. The recommendation request is distinct from applying for the visa. Immigration’s Business Visa information separately lists a DoI recommendation letter and investment, company, industry, and applicant records among its requirements. Requirements can vary by applicant, investment arrangement, and whether the application is new or a renewal. Confirm the current requirements with the responsible authority before filing.
Who may need assistance
- A foreign investor whose investment and industry records may support a DoI Business Visa recommendation request.
- An authorized representative applying in connection with an investor, with evidence of authorization.
- A dependent whose relationship to the investor needs to be documented.
- An applicant who needs to understand the DoI recommendation stage and subsequent Immigration filing as separate steps. DoI and Immigration assess the facts and applicable rules. Company formation, an investment proposal, or a prior recommendation does not by itself guarantee a recommendation or visa. If your purpose is employment in Nepal, a Business Visa is not a substitute for a Non-Nepalese Work Permit and the required visa process.
Records to prepare
The DoI’s published Business Visa list identifies the following records for its recommendation application. The exact checklist and accepted formats should be confirmed in the current Industry Management Information System (IMIS) application and with DoI: - Passport copy showing the latest Nepal visa.
- Evidence of investment made in the company.
- Industry registration certificate.
- Industry progress report, including current status.
- Investor’s contact address and telephone number.
- For dependents, a certificate or other evidence of the relationship.
- For an authorized representative, the investor’s authorization letter and the representative’s passport copy. For the separate Immigration application, DoI also lists a recommendation letter, company incorporation certificate, PAN details, share certificate where the investment is equity, passport and latest visa, industry registration, applicant biodata, and passport-size photographs. For an extension, its list includes a tax clearance certificate. Immigration’s current instructions control that filing; do not treat either published list as complete for every case.
How assistance works
- Review the case. We identify whether the request is for an investor, representative, or dependent and review the investment and industry stage.
- Map the supporting records. We compare the available documents with the relevant official checklist and flag missing, inconsistent, or unclear information for you to verify.
- Prepare the DoI submission. DoI’s published process guide directs Business Visa recommendation applications through IMIS. We can help organize the information and attachments for the application. The DoI reviews the submission and may notify the applicant of deficiencies.
- Handle the next step separately. If DoI issues a recommendation, the applicant must still submit the applicable Business Visa application to the Department of Immigration and meet its requirements.
Scope and limitations
Our assistance can include document organization, checklist guidance, and help understanding the sequence of authority steps. The government authorities control the applicable forms, requirements, recommendation, visa decision, fees, and processing. We do not issue recommendations, collect government fees as an authority, provide formal legal representation, or promise eligibility, approval, or a decision date. Official guidance may change and published pages may not always show identical requirements. Confirm the live IMIS checklist and current Immigration instructions before submission, especially for dependents, representatives, renewals, or unusual investment structures. To discuss the records relevant to your situation, contact Immigration Nepal.
