Foreign Investor Visa Assistance helps investors and their authorized representatives understand the Nepal business visa process, organize supporting records, and prepare for dealings with the responsible government offices. The Department of Industry (DoI) considers visa recommendations for foreign investors; the Department of Immigration decides visa applications. Immigration Nepal is an independent advisory service and cannot issue a visa or guarantee a recommendation, eligibility, approval, or processing time.

Which investor visa process applies?

Foreign investors commonly seek a Business Visa in connection with an investment in a Nepali company or industry. The DoI’s published guidance says the recommendation assessment may consider investment and the industry’s financial performance, employment generation, tax paid, and investment area. It also identifies investors, authorized representatives, and dependents as possible applicants, subject to the applicable criteria. A recommendation is one part of the process; it is not the visa itself. Residence and exploratory travel are different immigration matters. A Residential Visa has separate criteria and is not a synonym for a Business Visa or permanent residence. A visitor researching a possible investment may also need to ask the authorities about the appropriate visa before undertaking activities in Nepal. Do not assume that an investor label, company registration, or investment plan alone establishes eligibility for any category.

How we can assist

We can review the facts you provide, identify issues that may need official clarification, organize a service-specific document checklist, and help prepare a coherent application file for submission to the relevant authority. Where useful, we can explain the sequence between investment approvals and registrations, the DoI recommendation process, and the separate immigration application. The scope depends on your investment structure, the company or industry’s stage, whether you are applying as the investor or an authorized representative, and whether dependents are included. Foreign investment approval and immigration permission are separate questions. The DoI describes its role in administering foreign investment and lists project and investor information for investment approval. Whether an investment is permitted, which agency handles it, and what approvals apply depend on the proposed activity and structure. This visa assistance does not replace investment, company, tax, or sector-specific approvals.

Documents to prepare

Use the following as a starting point for a Business Visa recommendation and application file, not as a guaranteed final checklist. The DoI and Department of Immigration may require different or additional records for the specific case, and current instructions should be checked before submission. - Passport identity page and the most recent Nepal visa, if applicable.

  • Evidence of investment in the company or industry and the relevant foreign investment acceptance or approval record.
  • Company incorporation and industry registration records, plus PAN or VAT details where applicable.
  • Share certificate or other evidence of the investor’s interest where relevant to the investment structure.
  • Current company or industry progress information; the DoI may assess the industry’s status and performance.
  • Investor biodata and contact address and telephone number.
  • If applying through an authorized representative, the authorization and that representative’s passport details.
  • If dependents are included, documents establishing the relationship. Renewal applications may call for additional current records, including tax clearance and updated progress information. Document format, certification, translation, photo specifications, and submission method can change. Confirm these details with the relevant office for your filing rather than relying on an older checklist or a previous application.

Typical application sequence

  • Review the case. Clarify the proposed visa category, investor’s role, investment status, company or industry registrations, current Nepal immigration status, and any dependent applications.
  • Check the investment record. Confirm which foreign investment approvals and company or industry registrations have been completed and whether they match the documents supporting the visa request.
  • Prepare the recommendation file. Assemble the records requested by the DoI for its investor visa recommendation and resolve gaps or inconsistencies before filing.
  • Obtain the recommendation decision. Submit through the official channel specified by the DoI. The DoI reviews the file and determines whether to issue its recommendation.
  • Apply to Immigration. If recommended, submit the visa application and supporting documents to the Department of Immigration as instructed. Immigration Nepal can help organize the file, but the Department makes the visa decision.
  • Track conditions and renewals. Follow the visa granted and its conditions. For a later extension, verify the then-current forms, records, fee, and submission timing with Immigration.

Important limitations

Government pages can show different eligibility descriptions, document lists, and charges, and instructions may change. In particular, do not rely on a quoted investment threshold, visa duration, fee, or processing estimate without confirming the current rule for your own case. Ask the DoI about recommendation criteria and the Department of Immigration about the visa application, fee, and decision. Government fees, when payable, are determined and collected through official channels; they are separate from any private advisory fee. Our assistance is administrative and informational. It does not create government affiliation, confer authority to represent an applicant before an agency, or replace advice from a qualified legal or investment professional where that advice is needed. The applicant remains responsible for providing accurate information and following official instructions.
